In Matthew 6:32, Jesus says, “…your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”
God, as both your Creator and Father, is intimately acquainted with you. He knew you before the creation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). He became like you to sympathise with you (John 1:14; Hebrews 4:15). He knows the number of hairs on your head (or lack of) (Luke 12:7). He knows every anxious thought you have. He knows every bit of tension in your body. He exactly what you’re freaking out about.
He knows what you need and when you need it and is committed to meeting your true needs. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that your needs are the same as your wants. The truth is, what we really care about is our wants, like nice holidays or the latest tech.
We have no idea how much we worship at the throne of comfort today. A lot of things we think we can’t live without, people in many other parts of the world don’t think they need; many I’ve met from my time in East Afria would say they’ve been getting on just fine without them. We are being shaken in these days to re discover what our true needs are, relationship with God, relationship with others, meaning and purpose.
The reason we don’t always get what we want is that our wants aren’t often what we really need. There are certain things we don’t give our kids that they really want, like an exclusive diet of only chocolate and ice-cream. That would hurt them. God doesn’t want to spoil His children rotten or feed our appetite for material things. So He only gives you what we really need; good gifts, so that you’re not led astray.
Rest today brother or sister in Christ, in the fact that God knows you, He gets you, He has a good plan for your life, and He’s looking out for your *needs*.

God cares for you. Trust him to provide what matters most in your life right now.
