Blessing in the Valley

A few weeks back I preached a sermon on Ephesians 3:1-6 in our current series, Hope Embodied. A key part of the message was persevering through suffering “For this reason” (3:1) featuring lyrics of the Delirious song, Find Me In The River. Check out the message below if you missed it.

A talented person in our church, who said it had been a long time since she’d written any poetry was inspired to write these stirring and moving words. They’re about “the need for childlike innocence, just sitting with Jesus in our valley of darkness and handing the weight of it all to Him so that we may see new growth from the river of life.”

There’s blessing in the valley,
My God your hope is sure,
There’s beauty in the valley,
So I need search no more.

My burden dropped at Calvary,
The weight of sin atoned,
So I sit by this riverbed,
No longer quite alone.

There’s blessing in the valley,
My God your hope is sure,
There’s beauty in the valley,
So I need search no more.

I see the mountains crowd around,
I dare not raise my eyes,
And yet my shepherd keeps a watch,
Lifts my soul up to His skies.

There’s blessing in the valley,
My God your hope is sure,
There’s beauty in the valley,
So I need search no more.

As I take my feet again,
Your promises still stand,
My simple child’s prayer is this,
Lord will you take my hand?

There’s blessing in the valley,
My God your hope is sure,
There’s beauty in the valley,
So I need search no more.
