Food Bank

Foodbank

From “share your bread with the hungry” (Isaiah 58:7a) to “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions” (James 1:27) – the Bible reveals God’s love for people in need; love his followers are called to make known.

Westminster has the second-highest unemployment rate in London. More than 41% of children in Westminster live in poverty. Our on-site Trussell Trust network Foodbank provides three days’-worth of nutritionally balanced (non-perishable) food to residents in the Borough of Westminster experiencing financial crisis.

How does it work?

Food is donated by church members and local people (e.g. schools, businesses and charities) and stored. Volunteers sort and pack the food into food parcels. We partner with front-line care professionals, who identify people in crisis and issue them with a voucher. On receiving a referral, a member of the team will call the client or a representative to arrange a collection date and time, and check for any special dietary needs.

On arrival at the Foodbank centre, people will be checked in, receive a warm welcome, and their food parcel. If appropriate, they will also be put in touch with agencies that may be able to provide further assistance.

Need help?

We operate an Appointments Only Collection Service to Westminster Residents who have been referred via one of our registered agencies. Unfortunately, we are unable to help those who are street homeless, please look at Westminster Council’s Website to find out details of support services in the Borough.

All clients must be referred by one of our Registered Agencies, such as:

Client sessions run on Mondays 1pm-3pm (except Public Holidays) and Thursday 11am-1pm.

Admin Office open: Monday-Thursday 9am-5.30pm (closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

Donations

Please note that we are currently only open to receive food donations on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9am-4pm. It is helpful if you notify us in advance by emailing or call us on 020 7834-1731 ext.2224.

If you cannot drop off food, we would value financial contributions towards replenishing our stock, and general running costs.

If you would like to donate money to the work of our Foodbank, please use one of the following links to give through Enthuse, or download a giving form and return it along with your donation. You can also donate to us via Bankuet.

If you are eligible, we ask that you Gift Aid your financial donation by filling in this downloadable form, which you can email to or post back to us at Westminster Foodbank, Buckingham Gate, London, SW1E 6BS.
