Life Groups

B.L.E.S.S. Season

In April to July, when there is spring optimism and warmer weather, we restart meeting weekly with our Life Group families to focus on supporting each other to share about Jesus, using the B.L.E.S.S. model.

It’s about five everyday ways to love your neighbour and change the world. Begin in Prayer. Listen with care. Eat together. Serve with love. Share your story.

It’s based on the practices of Jesus, and was developed by Dave and Jon Ferguson, and is now a well-endorsed book.

Inspired by Sunday sermons, groups meet to hold each other accountable, spur on another on, and brainstorm ideas about how each person can individually, in their own way, live out B.L.E.S.S.

Groups are also encouraged to identify a group project – a particular place, group of people, person, or family in need – that they can work together to bless.

Some groups have blessed a nearby school, putting together gift bags for teachers and staff. Others have got very involved with our Foodbank. Some have organised family fun days in a local estate to which they’re connected. You could support a ministry someone in your group’s already involved with. You could club together to buy groceries for the elderly people in your neighbourhood. You could offer to pray for healing for people on your high street, every Saturday morning for 2-3 months. It’s an opportunity to hear from God and step out in faith together.

We also run a cluster half way through this term, an evening where several Life Groups get together to go deeper in one or more aspects of B.L.E.S.S. Topics like how to share the gospel are covered.
