“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19)

God is doing a new thing at Westminster Chapel. As our building project gets underway, he is creating space to move in power. Old things that were not bad in themselves – pews – that served their purpose well in their time, he is taking away to make room for the new thing he is doing.
This isn’t just about pews though. It’s also about our hearts – out of date defence mechanisms, patterns of living and ways of thinking, inner critics that have long outgrown their welcome –  God is removing them that we might revel in his love and manifest his grace more and more. It is a season of inner renewal. The solid structure of the gospel, the beautiful shell that is our Auditorium, and our mortal bodies, aren’t changing. But our inner being, by the Spirit, is being strengthened to welcome Christ to dwell more deeply and intimately in every part of us, individually and corporately, that we, Westminster, London and the world, might know more of the breadth, length, height and width of God’s great love.
Let us pray earnestly for God to do immeasurably more than we ask or even imagine in the months and years ahead.
